NEWS AND WORK FROM THE CLASSES

This poem called Monday's Child was written by Peadar Baker and Aaron MacKenzie

Monday's child is red and white.

Tuesday's child is full of fight.

Wednesday's child won't go to school.

Thursday's child is really cool.

Friday's child breaks all the plates

Saturday's has lots of mates.

And the child that is born on the seventh day is always full of fun and play.

Primary 5,6 and 7 pupils have been looking at lifestyles as a project this term. They made up flags that represent their lives.

book day

On Wednesday 3 March P1-4 celebrated World Book Day.

"Today we made some butterfly bookmarks. I used gold and Mena used red," said Sonny P1.

" I brought a book about animal mothers and babies to school. I've enjoyed World Book Day, " said Mena P1.

Primary 1-4 have been writing about the 5 senses.

I like listening to music to help relax me.
I like looking at flowers on a sunny day.
I like listening to the teacher to help me learn.
I like looking at my dogs when they are playing.
I like listening to the birds singing because I listen to them when I go for a walk.
I like looking at the sun when it rises in the morning.

I  like the smell of pasties because they taste good.

I like the smell of  chicken pie because it is  crispy.

I like the smell of jelly because it tastes good.

I like the smell of lollies because I like the taste.

I like listening to a piano playing softly because it makes me happy.

I like listening to my cat Toffee purring because it makes me calm.

I like listening to the wind because it makes me feel free.

I like looking at my cat Toffee sleeping because it makes me happy.

I like looking at my hamster Honey running on her wheel because it makes me feel energetic.

I like looking at the sparkly snow because it makes me feel joyful.

The Magic Box

I will put in my box.
A drop from a gold glassy pool.
A million pound coin from the end of a rainbow.
A leaf from a chocolate jungle.

I will put in my box.
The sound of a scream from the best rollercoaster in the world.
A magic piece of space metal from a spotty alien’s ship.
A hiccup from a talking merkat.

I will put in my box.
A sparkle from the moon in the night.
A money tree from a magic land.

I will put in my box.
The sound of a crunch when a person eats
A shiny shell from Treasure Island.
A bat with no wings and a panda flying.

My box is fashioned from black and gold and ice
With hearts on the lid and secrets in the corners.
Its hinges are the toe joints of monkeys.

I shall ride in my box
On the horizon of the wild Atlantic,
Then land on a sandy beach
The colour of the stars.

My Magic Box

I will put in my box

A train in the sky floating
The feel of the fresh wind on my face while sledging
A never-ending bar of chocolate.

I will put in my box

An owl noise made by a breath in a child’s hand
A fistful of gravity
The smell of flowers on a summer day.

I will put in my box

A driving plane
And a flying car
Red chocolate that melts in snow

My box is made of strong steel and unbreakable glass
With a padlock made from the teeth of a sabre-tooth tiger
It hinges are the finger joints of giants.

I shall surf in my box
On snow and snowboard on water
And slide ashore on a prehistoric island
With fire-breathing cavemen.

SNOW

In January 2010 we've had lots of snow. The snow is deep the snow is very slippery. Snow can be good and bad and I'm going to tell you why.

Good Things

|Snow is fun because you bvan sledge down the hill. You can also have snow fights. It's fun because you can also make snow sculptures. You could make snow angels. People get together.

Bad Things

Snow is bad because your pipes can be frozen. The snow can fall on you. The roads are dangerous. Cold icicles fall. Some people on bikes could slip on the ice. You could slip and break a bone. You could fall in the ice.

Nursery had a visit from Paul Kendall. This is what Alex found out about robins
Paul came to tell us about robins.

When birds are thirsty they drink water.
Robins have red tummies, black beaks and brown tails.
Robins have a beak to pick up things.
They eat bugs and worms!!

Eco School Goes Green! Chelsea P5 Reports on Eco School Action Week 21-25 September

On Monday Paul Kendall came and did a presentation on capercaillies. All the children thought it was very interesting. Later that day Lorraine from Eden Court did Eco Drama about water. There was a performance on Friday. On Tuesday a lady called Anne from K'next Generation came to school and we made wind turbines out of k'nex. The children really enjoyed. On Friday Hammy took us for mountain biking skills. I really enjoyed it although it was quite hard but I learnt a lot of things.
