WHY WASTE FREE WEDNESDAY?

·      In Highland all our rubbish goes to landfill sites which are holes in the ground and Highland are running out of space in their landfill sites.

·      Throwing materials away is a waste of our resources. Recycle instead!

·      The cost of taking waste to landfill sites is paid for by ordinary people through the council tax. Your parents!

·      Landfill sites produce pollution. Methane is produced from rotting vegetation. Methane is a green house gas that traps heat from the sun and changing the climate.

·      Rain seeping through landfill sites pollutes the surrounding land.

·      So let’s make less rubbish at Deshar every Wednesday.

USEFUL TIPS: Bring a snack in a re-useable plastic tub or better still a piece of fruit.
